Are Elders waking up to TTATT?
by Londo111 inthe obvious answer to that is: yes!
jwn has a number of former elders who awakened to ttatt while they held their position, and a handful of current elders who help provide needed intel.. .
later, i learned he and his wife had faded, and both of his grown sons know ttatt as well.. .

They hear and see so much you would think they would start searching. What I don't understand is how you could read the letter from the WTS on how to handle pedefiles and not question things. I know the cong we were in had only appointed 1 new elder in 13 years and the cong was full of brothers but no one would reach out. They wanted my husband to for years and he didn't want any part of it because he had his fill from being an elder for many years.

Whacky comments! What the craziest comment you've ever heard?
by toweragent inlast week a sister in my new hall made the following comment,.
"a brother once told me that it is better to be wrong with the organization, than to be right and be on your own without the organization.".
wow.

This was said when the CO was there during a WT study. An older sister said she didn't like gay people and she didn't like the fact that she couldn't tell who they were and that they needed to put a dress on so she could tell they were gay!! No one corrected her at all!

Wow WhoLoves, thank you so much for telling your story. It is so encouraging to me and I am glad you are doing well and life looks bright for you too. It sure is a double whammy to have both hit at the same time but I feel like I have gotten so much stronger going through all of this. Like you I try to be as positive as I can be but at times I still struggle with the anger of what 30 years of being in a cult did to me. It is comforting to know there are others who have been through the same trials. I hope you stay healthy and continue to have a bright future.
Thanks Excite, stay on your journey, it does get better with time and reading books and this site has helped me so much. There are so many of us in the same boat.

So Your Husband Is Thinking of Becoming A Jehovah's Witness
by LoisLane looking for Superman ini want to share with you, things your husband can demand from you, because, well he is the man and you are not.
i don't know if you have read about jw's sex lives and what is allowed and isn't.. no oral for anybody.
no masturbation for anybody.

Wow Lois, I too went back and read your story. I can't even begin to imagine your pain. I am glad you are free from all of your abusers. I know it will never leave you but it sounds like you are in a better place and being free of this cult will help you heal even further. Hang in there! <3

I just sat and watched this piece on Steve Hassen, excellent! Loss, take care of your health. I too got very ill and didn't realize it until years later that the cult was making me so sick. My husband and the rest of my family were so worried about me and at times I felt like I wanted to die. It finally all came together last year when I hadn't been to a meeting in a while then I went to the Memorial and I felt such a panic while I was there. Then I went to another meeting and had that same panic feeling. My last meeting was the DC and it was just the Friday session and I ended up leaving early because I couldn't take it for another minute. When I went home and read everything I could find and realized what it all was coming from my health improved so much. I still have some problems that will never get better but it really made me realize that this is not worth one more day of bad health. I too was on a number of anti depressants for more than 20 years and I have been off of all of them for close to a year. It is not worth it to take drugs with dangerous side effects in order to stay in. As JW's we are taught not to think of ourselves but you have to in order to have a healthy and happy life. Get some help from a very good professional to help you through this. Best wishes to you!

Clarity, I too believe that the stress of the org causes our health to fail. I have never seen so many sick and depressed people!
Villagegirl, thank you, I have followed everything my drs have told me to do. I am not messing around with this because I want to enjoy whatever time I have left! That is one thing I never understood with many JW's and health care. There are some pretty strange thinking with them!
Smiddy, it breaks my heart that so many that leave lose their family. My husband's Mom knows just a little right now because she lives 1700 miles away but she wouldn't totally shun him. She knows we aren't going to meetings and he has some disagreements with some teachings but she is in her 80's and he is just telling her only what he has to at this point. I have Don's book but haven't gotten to it yet.
Loz, I hope your health has improved!
Reopened, wow, our stories are very similar! I am 57 and my husband is 59. I hope you are able to get your family out too. I know it really weighs on your mind when they are still in. I am not surprised at all by your experience. It is so sad they put selling magazines and meetings ahead of the brothers and sisters. That has bothered me for many years but I always stopped short of checking out why it is like that. I hope all goes well for you too.
Thank you again!
